In an era where climate change, health consciousness, and ethical concerns are transforming global food choices, ProMeat by ProPlant Foods Pvt. Ltd. is boldly redefining how businesses and consumers experience meat—without actually using any. Founded in 2021 and incubated under the prestigious SINE IIT Bombay and the ProVeg Incubator (Germany), ProMeat is now one of India’s leading smart protein startups, offering 100% vegetarian, high-protein, and preservative-free alternatives that rival traditional meat in taste, texture, and satisfaction.
At its core, ProMeat is on a mission to make plant-based food not just a substitute but the preferred choice.
“We envision a future where plant-based eating isn’t an alternative, it’s the standard—for great taste, nutrition, and responsible sourcing,” says Pranjuli Garg, co-founder of ProPlant Foods. “With every product we create, our aim is to show that sustainable eating can be indulgent, accessible, and exciting.”
From Labs to Luxury Kitchens
What started as a research-led initiative has now scaled across both B2B and D2C platforms, with a clientele that includes top-tier names like JW Marriott, ITC Hotels, St. Regis, Mia Cucina, and MORE. Their diverse product range includes Plant-based Pepperoni, Raw Mince, Seekh Kebabs, Spicy Nuggets, Tikka Chunks, Burger Patties, and Sausages—each designed to cater to evolving culinary demands with convenience and consistency.
These products boast up to 25 g of protein per 100g, contain zero preservatives, and have a 12-month frozen shelf life—making them ideal for HORECA (Hotel/Restaurant/Catering) businesses looking to diversify their menus without the hassle of complex prep or rapid spoilage.
“The food industry is shifting fast,” explains Debabrata Das, Co-founder and CEO of ProPlant Foods. “Businesses need innovative, sustainable, and scalable solutions. That’s where we come in—offering clean-label, high-performance products that don’t compromise on flavor or texture.”
Science, Sustainability & Smart Proteins
ProMeat’s edge lies in its science-backed approach to food innovation. Using indigenous ingredients like mung beans, soy, peas, and oats, they employ proprietary fat-binding technology that replicates the meaty bite that consumers crave. Each product is cholesterol-free, preservative-free, and optimized for taste, nutrition, and functionality.
“Our approach is rooted in cutting-edge food science,” Debabrata says. “But it’s also about deep empathy—understanding consumer behavior, culinary habits, and the desire for guilt-free indulgence.”
That empathy led them to win The India Smart Protein Innovation Challenge by The Good Food Institute India, a pivotal moment that validated their technology and vision. Since then, the company has attracted support from global and national institutions such as:
- ProVeg Incubator (Germany)
- SINE – IIT Bombay
- SIIC – IIT Kanpur
- Government of India grants supporting sustainability and food-tech innovation
The Founders’ Vision
The leadership behind ProMeat brings a unique combination of creativity, scientific expertise, and purpose-driven entrepreneurship.
Pranjuli Garg, co-founder of ProPlant Foods, is an innovator at heart with a deep commitment to sustainability and food security. Her journey began with the belief that the current food systems needed reimagining.
“We saw a gap in the market and an urgent need to act,” says Pranjuli. “So, we built a product that’s not just an alternative—it’s a better solution for the planet, for our health, and for businesses.”

Her work on a plant-based chicken alternative, in collaboration with her team, showcased their ability to use local ingredients and scientific innovation to deliver globally competitive results.
Debabrata Das, with a background in Food Technology and Management, leads with a dual focus on product excellence and ecosystem building. As the India lead of the Sigma Squared Society—a global network of young entrepreneurs—he’s equally invested in strengthening India’s startup environment as he is in building a food-tech powerhouse.
“At ProMeat, we’re not just crafting products; we’re reshaping food narratives,” he says. “We’re proving that you don’t need to compromise on taste or tradition to make sustainable choices.”
For Businesses, By Innovators
ProMeat is designed to solve real-world challenges for food businesses—whether it’s managing inventory, pleasing vegetarian customers, or staying relevant in a health-driven market. With easy integration into existing menus, extended frozen shelf life, and clean-label appeal, their products help businesses stay ahead without the operational burden.
In a space crowded with buzzwords and bland alternatives, ProMeat stands out for one key reason: It delivers.
A Future Built on Purpose
As plant-based eating grows globally, India’s contribution to the smart protein movement is becoming more significant. ProMeat is not only meeting this moment—it’s leading it. With a state-of-the-art co-manufacturing facility, rigorous quality standards, and a founder-led vision that marries innovation with purpose, the company is poised for national and international growth.
Their story is one of possibility—a blueprint for how sustainable businesses can be delicious, profitable, and planet-friendly.
“At the end of the day,” Pranjuli says, “we want to inspire a shift. To make people realize that better food choices can also be joyful, nostalgic, and deeply satisfying.”
And with each ProMeat patty, kebab, or nugget, that shift is already well underway.
