Mercedes-Benz Launches All-New V-Class in India at ₹1.4 Crore, Begins Local Production in Pune

By Chandran Iyer

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the all-new V-Class, further strengthening its presence in India’s rapidly evolving private luxury mobility segment. Designed for discerning customers seeking exclusivity, refinement and privacy, the luxury MPV combines expansive space, premium comfort and avant-garde design to create a serene, cocooned travel experience. It was launched at the Nita Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai.

Priced at ₹1.4 crore (ex-showroom), deliveries of the 2026 Mercedes-Benz V-Class will begin by the end of March. The model marks a facelifted evolution of the earlier V-Class sold in India between 2019 and 2022, featuring significant exterior and interior upgrades along with a new petrol engine option. The V-Class competes in India’s ultra-luxury people mover segment alongside the Lexus LM and Toyota Vellfire.

In a significant move reinforcing its long-term India strategy, Mercedes-Benz will locally assemble the V-Class at its Chakan manufacturing facility near Pune. The decision underscores the company’s growing commitment to the Indian luxury mobility market and is expected to enhance value for customers.

Designed as a ‘Private Suite’ on Wheels

Offered exclusively in an extra-long wheelbase configuration, the V-Class measures 5,370 mm in length with a 3,430 mm wheelbase — the longest among Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles in India. The proportions translate into exceptional cabin space, positioning the vehicle as a “personal luxury space” tailored for affluent families, business leaders and lifestyle buyers who prioritise comfort, privacy and flexibility.

Conceptualised as a private suite on wheels, the V-Class transforms travel into a curated and personalised experience. It is particularly suited for leisure journeys and family travel, including those accompanied by pets, where spaciousness and comfort become essential.

Luxury-Focused Cabin Experience

The six-seat configuration features first-class individual seats in the second row equipped with three-stage ventilation, massage functions, calf support, wireless charging and deployable cupholders. In a segment-first offering, the third row also includes ventilated seats, three-point seat belts, ISOFIX child seat anchorage and USB charging ports.

The front seats are electrically adjustable and ventilated, with cushion-length adjustment designed to enhance driver comfort during long journeys.

Cabin ambience is elevated through 64-colour ambient lighting, a 640-watt Burmester® surround sound system with Dolby Atmos delivered via 15 speakers, THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control and heat-insulating glass with sunblinds. Mercedes-Benz’s ENERGIZING Comfort programme adds up to ten wellness modes combining lighting, climate and immersive soundscapes.

Practical luxury features include electrically operated sliding doors on both sides, controllable via key or cabin switches, and an electrically operated split tailgate that enables convenient loading even in tight urban environments.

Engineering and Design Highlights

The India-spec V-Class comes standard with the AMG Line cosmetic package, enhancing its sporty visual appeal. The inclusion of AIRMATIC air suspension is expected to significantly improve ride comfort, particularly suited to long-distance chauffeur-driven travel — a key use case in India’s luxury segment.

Strengthening the ‘Make in India’ Commitment

The local production of the V-Class marks another milestone in Mercedes-Benz India’s manufacturing roadmap, following the announcement of local assembly for the Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV. With the V-Class becoming the second model slated for local production this year, the company signals strong confidence in India’s growing appetite for bespoke, high-end mobility solutions.

“We are delighted to introduce the all-new V-Class for the Indian market, redefining the concept of a private suite offering luxury, space and privacy to our exclusive customers. The decision to start local production further reinforces our commitment to India while adding significant value to customers,” said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.
