Why Setbacks and Shocks are Not New for Entrepreneur Anil Goel

A good Entrepreneur is one who has enough capacity to absorb the shocks and setbacks that come in his way. This is because the entrepreneurial journey  is full of  speed breakers, hairpin bends and  rumble strips in the form of challenges.Many of the entrepreneurs learn this lesson a little late.

But  Anil Goel, the  Chairman  of Duroshox learnt this lesson even before he started his venture. After all  this first generation entrepreneur is in the business of shock absorbers.Anil and his better half   Neeru Goel were interviewed as a successful first generation entrepreneur and inspiration to budding entrepreneurs in RMB  (Rotary Means Business—a fellowship group of Rotary International).

The interview was conducted by Deepak Shikarpur, a  technopreneur and prolific writer  who has   penned  46  books on IT. Duroshox is a leader in the area of vibration isolation, motion control, comfort, damping and suspensions. The company was founded in 1986-87 to supply suspension solutions to various large OEMs. This company which is headquartered in Pune does business with global OEMS all over the world.

In the interview Anil narrated his early struggles and how he overcame before starting his company that was into manufacturing shock absorbers. In the early days he did his schooling in UP and Punjab.  His father told him to take  studies seriously before he retires from his job. “I took his advise  and passed in merit from Thapar Institute of Engineering. Thereafter I had the opportunity to work in an international company ”, he added.

From the experience that he gathered,  Anil started his own company Duroshox to manufacture two and three wheeler shock absorbers in Jalandhar with only 12 employees.

Today  his  company  Duroshox is a world Leader in auto components space . His products which are comparatively  low priced but  of high quality became very popular.  Under his leadership the company has prospered . From a 12-man team it has now metamorphosed into a 1200-strong workforce!

Both Anil and Neeru said they never compromised on quality and sincerity. They said for a new entrepreneur the most important thing is to have through knowledge of their product.
